[RAW] Love So Life Chapter 88

The long-awaited chapter 88 finally appeared on Baidu courtesy of some Chinese internet anon. Thank you, anon-san!! Since Baidu is a POS, I reuploaded the pictures on imgur and mediafire.

EDIT - A person named unknown translated this chapter. You can read it HERE. The summary I wrote here is my own impression of the chapter, but I suggest you read the translation yourself and form your own opinions.

I think this chapter is pretty self-explanatory, but to briefly sum it up: Matsunaga tells Shiharu he loves her and has probably always loved her ever since he first met her, and that although he respects her for how much more mature she is than other kids her age, in the end she is still a child. So he tells her to go out into the world and experience everything she can with whomever she wants, and then when she becomes the age he is now (about 10 years from now) he wants her to think about him again, and give him a response about her feelings for him then. The ring is a symbol of his promise to her that he'll wait with unchanging feelings until then and not be mad even if she decides she doesn't like him. Shiharu's about to blurt out that this is BS because she loves him and wants to do the nasty with him ASAP (or at least that's what I was hoping she'd say) but then Aoi came in saying he had to go pee.

I'm thoroughly disgusted with this chapter and thinking about forsaking this series completely. I really don't have the fortitude to hang in there for another 100 chapters until the latest drama is resolved. I don't think I have the fortitude for another 20 chapters of this! My gentle heart can't take it!

  1. Baaaaah!!! So not what I was expecting! This pace is so frustrating!
Dear God, if Shiharu doesn't give an answer like "I want you now in this place", I will forget about this series for a year -_-

  3. MATSUNAGA-SAN WHY ARE YOU A RESPONSIBLE NICE ADULT!??? I mean I understand him but like arghh!! I still have hope that SHIHARU tells him that she doesn't want to wait and crap... But I bet she is overwhelmed by his feelings so... Oh this dorky innocent love makes me romantically frustrated. Thank you for the scans and the summary!! :) Let's have hopes for the next chapter.

  4. Whoa just read a completely different summary on mangafox and now I'm disappointed in this chapter...thought it was awesome at first.

  5. Am I being too optimistic when I say that I still have some hope that Shiharu might be able to tell Matsunaga how she feels in the next chapter? This is seriously the one and only manga that I'll ever have enough patience for to wait it out and see that the main characters get together. Thanks for the summary, Icarus! I hope the author has had enough fun teasing us and gets the romance going already!

  6. Disappointing....but, this is nothing compared to Skip Beat xD (211 chapters for a real kiss, but it worth it)
    Thanks for the summary :)

  7. (ROOAAARRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!)

Argh!!! How old does Sei want to be when he gets married!?!?! Doesn't Rio and Takeru have the same age difference as Shiharu and Sei? Why is there such a big difference, then????? I thought Sei would say that he won't do anything to her until she graduates and starts going out with her after graduation, let her finish uni or something, then marry her. But, what the hell!!!! Can Sei even hold back for another ten years?!?
Mangaka, I'm giving you another three and no more than five chapter's chance!! Sei better at least change his mindset by then!!!
So disappointed!! There's a limit to how old fashion/responsible you can be!!

    1. I'm assuming Takeru and Matsunaga aren't the same age because Takeru is still in college, whilst Matsunaga is working. But yeah, it should make a point that "age is but a number". I am disappoint!

  8. Matsunaga is such a good adult that he's almost idiotic in his goodness. What an adorable idiot. While I agree that she should experience the world a bit more, I hope she stops him from his own noble intentions. After telling him her feelings and kissing him silly, I hope they would come to a compromise

I wouldn't mind a well-placed time skip of a few years. Then, after she's experienced a bit of college, she'd return to him saying, "I've tried to do what you've suggested but, after all, you're the only one for me." Or "I don't need to live another day away from you to know that we should be together for the rest of our lives." And then they proceed to have adorable Seiharu babies.
Please mangaka-san! Gives us Seiharu babies some time in the next hundred years!

  9. Gosh! I was sooooooooo disappointed! I would agree if Matsunaga and Shiharu get married after Shiharu's uni (i bet Shiharu is old enough and has already experience a full life at that time). Or they could just be married after Shiharu's high school (but no intimate relationship then after uni to make it wholesome for Matsunaga since he is such a noble soul). But TEN YEARS? Why wait for TEN YEARS if both have the same feelings??? That's tooooo long! A lot of bad things may happen, you know?

Mangaka-san, onegai! Don't destroy our hope. I hope the next chapter would not disappoint me more..>,<

  10. This story is going down hill so fast. The whole sudden confess was so illogical and absurd. I don't know what to hope for this manga anymore.
P/s: Icarus-san, thank you so much for doing the scan and reviews for this manga so far.

  11. You guys are seriously overreacting. I felt that this chapter made the previous chapter make a lot more sense, because frankly the whole ring thing came out of nowhere. This is a huge step forward for the series. Matsunaga has basically laid all of his feelings (good and bad) on the table after keeping them to himself for so long. Yeah, asking to wait 10 years is a little ridiculous, though I bet a lot of that is coming from his own guilty conscious over being attracted to somebody 10 years younger than him. Even in this chapter he's fighting with himself over what to do (he's thinking about how he actually wants to embrace Shiharu then and there, but he's holding himself back).

But anyway, the ball is in Shiharu's court now. She doesn't have to obediently go along with this ten-year plan.

    ReplyDelete
  12. aww, I think it was quite expected that Matsunaga was going to say that. He doesn't want Shiharu to feel that she's obligated to him and miss what life she could have ' instead of being tied down. He just doesn't know how much Shiharu already loves him and loves being a family with them.

I don't think she will have to wait 10 years unless they are planning to fast forward those 10 years and end the story. Does anyone know for sure if this manga is scheduled to end ?

I Love this story so far and yes I wanted Shiharu to jump in the arms of Mastunaga and just say YES!~ But these things never happen ( at least the way I want them to lol XD )

    I am glad to of found this series to begin with and am more thankful to have found this blog with translations/summaries !~ Don't forsake the entire series Icarus Bride ; ;

lol My gentle heart can't take it either but hang in there !~ The end result will be sweet !~

Which btw you have been truly awesome doing summaries !~ Thank you soooo sooooo much

  13. Just... WHY?! I imagined every possible reaction, turnovers and everything, but that?
And, please, we have already experienced twins interrupting in Shiharu-Seiji relation, why again? Of course, I will look forward to next chapter, but my gentle heart also may not take this any more!

  14. So I went and TL'ed this chapter because I think people really should read Matsunaga's whole speech. The summary really skimmed over it and I don't think things are nearly as bad as people are making them out to be.

It's a bit of a rush job, though (did the whole thing in under and hour) so it probably needs some editing and I didn't bother with sfx or really small text, but here it is:

    2. Aww I think everyone is just holding onto every word said because it was a huge chapter and we are all tense to see what would happen. We are holding on with our own hopes for the chapter with what we wanted to see happen (^.^*) So everyone is tense haha :)

We are clawing for more... so the translations help put our worried hearts at ease for the characters Shiharu and Matsunaga's love.

Thank you both for the hard work; bringing summaries and taking the time to translate. I know a lot of us ( non-Japanese speakers/readers ) deeply appreciate your hard work.

SO thank you both sooooo much for the hard work and sharing.

  15. Well, from how the chapter ended and how Matsunag-san was feeling while confessing, I still have some hope that with Shiharu's confession (which I suspect will come soon) Matsunaga-san won't be able to hold himself anymore because he will know that Shiharu already likes him, and the whole "I will wait for your answer for 10 years" will turn to a sort of engagement in which the decide they are going to marry after Shiharu finishes college or something..
Well, at least I hope this is how things will turn, or anything of equivalent meaning and value..

  16. Kevadu, thank you really much, that actually explains a lot and puts new light on this whole situation... I want them to be together so badly, that I haven't thought about "How would it be with Nakamura's parents alive", but that's actually an important question!

  17. For all of you who are disappointed in this chapter, check out the dialogue translation by the person who posted above OR the one in LSL mangafox spoilers page. You'll probably be a bit happier about the chapter afterwards. You really need to read the dialogues to feel what's going on here.

  19. Thank you for the summaries and the translation link! I understand you, Icarus-san, because I'm also fed up already with many mangas, I hate it when shoujos extend their storyline when everything should already be solved (I'm looking at you, Skip Beat ¬¬)... especially with this kind of confession! I MEAN!!! MATSUNAGA ALREADY SAID IT! How many chapters should it take after this for Shiharu to confess? Though I like the fact that Matsunaga was "responsible", I hope the author makes a good climax for this story, it's so cute, I'd be sad if it ended too rushed... or too boring.
Next one is May 2nd? I'm never sure, I just try to guess looking at the bottom of the last page haha. At least we don't have to wait a whole month, in that case :).

  20. Hmm, I agree that we are not always patient when it comes to development between characters we love and want to be together... I sometimes wonder if Japanese readers feel just as frustrated as "westerners" do with lack of romantic development (and yes I so glare at Skip Beat when I make this comment too) but what can we do but wait? The manga is the mangaka's livelihood and perhaps they are asked to "drag things out", which of course sucks. As for LSL - 10 year wait, no freaking way, Shiharu-tan will surely say something before then, perhaps when the twins do "leave" will she confess then so both her and Sei-tan won't feel alone and can once again feel like family together... Just a thought...

    ReplyDelete
  21. I am not a Japanese but as an asian I can tell you that I don't feel one bit of frustration and I feel the dialog is a beauty with depth and this is the only natural way to solve things. If Matsunaga just forces an answer from Shiharu, all those character build up until now will be wasted. And it is not only about him being passively responsible. Honestly, giving Shiharu's personality, what Matsunaga said is absolutely more lethal than being straightforward and ask for an answer today. She cannot possibly leave Matsunaga behind and go experiencing the large world. She's just not that type of woman. She is a caretaker in her core, not an adventurer. This totally distinguishes Matsunaga-san from Nao-kun...IMHO, this is not just being responsible but being mature and wise. Aoi is basically the baby version of Matsunaga and you have already seen that Shiharu cannot possibly say no to his confess.

    ReplyDelete
  22. ah, just to clarify, I am not saying Matsunaga said those to trick her or anything but the result is Shiharu's feeling for him just went up a level.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Why does he had to be so Damn kind? aishhhhh.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well I'm a middle-easterner and I do feel frustrated that Matsunaga-san doesn't know about Shiharu's feelings yet..
I don't say that they have to get married right now or anything of the sort..
Just that they know that their feelings are mutual..
It just took too long for that to happen, and I can't take the idea that we might have to wait as long for them to know just that one thing..
Anyways, after reading the translation I also understand Matsunaga-san's point of view and thoughts, and I think that's really mature of him to say what he said, considering that he doesn't know Shiharu's true feelings..

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think Matsunaga-san seems mature but actually is not. He decides that he will wait and blah blah blah. But he did not ask whether Shiharu want him wait. It includes the case that Shiharu may not love him and does not even want him to wait. If it is the case, would it be too heavy for Shiharu? Imagine some days a man who you does not love tells you that he will wait you 10 years and you can keep a ring? A relationship includes respect and discussion, he makes the decision all from his point of view and his thoughts about the best. ANYWAY same as a lot of us, I feel this manga is too long.....

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well, i actually love this chapter, it's sweet in it's way. It would be weird if matsuraga rushing into getting in relationship with nakamura, right?

    ReplyDelete
  27. It is definitely frustrating for all of us readers, REALLY frustrating, but if you pause to look at the big picture, you see that as unnerving as it might be, this is pretty much in the 'spirit' of this manga. The probability of the two of them just falling all over each other in 1 or 2 chapters was rather low: ironically, they've spent a lot of time together and shared pretty sweet moments, but since neither shared their feelings with the other, it was stayed pretty platonic and there was nothing official between them; we are also all very aware of Shiharu's feelings toward him, but he was pretty discreet about his own... For him, after never quite declaring himself and showing much of his thoughts, to take out a ring and ask for marriage in the near or far future, for the Matsunaga that was shown to us until now in this manga, this is a GIANT step forward compared to his previous behavior in general.

  31. eventhough it's a little bit different than what I expected, but I found it's cute.. how matsunaga want to cherish her and let her to experience a lot of thing. the way he said that will wait her,, it's sooo romantic. thank youuuuuuuu for your hardwork.. can't wait for the next chapter

    ReplyDelete
  32. First, thank you so, so, so much for your hard work! I'm so grateful that you take the time out of your day to do this for fans. :) Thanks again!

All right, so this chapter... Okay. I see where Matsunaga is coming from. But I also feel like he didn't give Shiharu a chance to reply to his confession. He just said he'd wait. I'm also sorta frustrated with Shiharu for not speaking up. But then again, if you think about it, being confessed to that way is very surprising. With her personality, her reaction fits. So... I'm happy that Matsunaga confessed. It's such a deep, sweet feeling, too. He's really going to wait years for her answer. He's that dedicated, and I think he thought this over for a while, even if it wasn't revealed in the manga. I'm sure that he did this because the twins would be moving to their grandparents' soon, so I think that's what encouraged him to confess to her.

Ah, this is driving me crazy, though! I really do not want to wait another 8308530832 chapters until things get super romantic between them -_- Seriously, why not get together after Shiharu graduates HS? I'm sure she'd love to experience the world with him and have him beside her through all her experiences.

This chapter really got all my emotions mixed up. Ah, I'm so freakin' impatient! Still a good chapter, though.
