[RAW] Love So Life Volumes 15, 16 and 17 [END]

Happy New Year, everyone! Thank you for sticking with me through a pretty bumpy 2015, and best of luck to each and every one of you for 2016.

I feel pretty guilty for giving up on this series partway through and not seeing it through to the end. It was one of the first series I worked on as a translator and I really did enjoy the touching story and all of the adorable moments with the twins, as well as the tender (if glacially paced) relationship development between Matsunaga-san and Shiharu, but at some point the series got too long and too slow and I couldn't do it anymore.

I heard a few months ago that the series had finally ended and when I was at the used book store the other day I found the last few volumes there super cheap, so I scooped them up and scanned them for you guys. As I write this post, all of volume 15 and most of volume 16 have already been scanlated, but I bought them and scanned them already (I wasn't sure how much had been scanlated, so I bought all the volumes containing chapters I hadn't personally read) so I figure I might as well post them here.  I will post a brief summary of the ending of the series in the comments, so please don't read the comments of this post if you don't want to spoil the ending!

  4. About a month late, but here's the abbreviated summary of the series ending:
The twins' father reappears without much of a good excuse for where he was or what he was doing ("I needed time to work through it and couldn't take care of the twins; I could barely even take care of myself.") The twins move to Grandma and Grandpa's house as planned, and Kouichi goes with them, to re-learn how to be a decent parent/human being. Matsunaga-san and Shiharu confess their feelings to eachother but Matsunaga-san says that he will wait 10 years for Shiharu to grow up and mature a bit more, and once she's an independent adult if she still chooses him he'll marry her then.
Fast forward 5 years, Shiharu has graduated high school, moved out of the orphanage into her own place, attended and graduated from a 3 year college, obtained her teaching license for daycare, and has been working as a full-fledged daycare teacher for 1 year. The twins are in 2nd grade and living at their grandparents' house still, along with their father. And Matsunaga is exactly the same. Rio also went to university and graduated and got some cool job (fashion magazine editor or something? I forgot). She's still dating Takeru but he's kind of an idiot and has been backpacking around the world, often being completely out of contact for months at a time. Their relationship is a bit strained. Shiharu and Matsunaga are also kinda-sorta-ish dating, but they rarely talk to eachother, rarely see eachother, and in these entire 5 years have never once kissed. Otherwise, Matsunaga-san hasn't changed at all; he's still working as an announcer and is still stupidly popular.
The twins call Shiharu to tell her they are coming to visit Tokyo with their dad and grandparents during spring break and they all make plans to go flower-viewing at the park. On the day of, Matsunaga-san is running late because of work. Shiharu is self-conscious because the last few times they've had meet-ups like this he always uses work as an excuse to arrive late or leave early, almost as if he's specifically avoiding her. Grandma and Grandpa suddenly announce that they are going to have Kouichi show them some of the famous sights around Tokyo, and leave the twins with Shiharu, Rio and Takeru (who has apparently come directly from the airport after returning to Japan from Peru). They pick their spot and set up their blanket and picnic lunch. The twins go off with Takeru to get some juice (I think) when Matsunaga-san arrives. Shiharu gets really worked up when she sees him and suddenly stands up and runs away dramatically. Rio and Matsunaga-san just look at eachother like "WTF?" and then Rio tells him he'd better go after her.
When Matsunaga-san catches up with Shiharu he makes her calm down and tell him what's wrong. She tells him how upset she is that he's been so distant these past 5 years and that even though she's come to like him more and more the distance between them seems to be getting bigger, not smaller, and she's worried he's intentionally avoiding her. Matsunaga-san admits that he was indeed avoiding her because she's become more and more beautiful and he "couldn't trust himself around her" so the only way to keep his promise to wait 10 years without putting pressure on her was to keep away from her. They end up kissing and finally agree they won't wait any longer. Shiharu is 23 now and Matsunaga must be almost 30? They rejoin the twins and Rio and Takeru and the series ends with them enjoying their happy reunion.
